This is a loving tribute to our friend Leo.
He is a feared, yet respected leader in my household. At least one of my children looks up to him as a mentor and role model.
That same child almost left Leo on the table of a Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffle house in Atlanta–but he was heroically saved by a set of quick-thinking parents.
He went on to meet his tragic fate the very next day– sadly swept away in the Atlantic Ocean after being warned repeatedly not to accompany said child out to the beach in the first place.
We find solace in the comforting thought that, as a turtle, he is finally home.
We are currently looking for an adequate Leo action figure replacement to be presented as a birthday present next month. Oh, and a replacement for a Mikey who tragically lost his head at a Sam’s Club.
